Back in April Andrew and I went to Spain and Portugal for a quick week away and I took along his grandfathers 1970s film camera to torture him in front of all the tourist sights - I mean capture memories. Using an old manual camera with no electronic features was HARD with a huge learning curve but it was so so nice to have a simple camera that I didn’t need to be too precious about and snap a shot then not think of it for a couple months versus checking the back of the digital camera and making sure everything was perfect. Remember opening your 4x6 vacation prints in the Costco parking lot? It’s my birthday tomorrow and I just finished my

It’s my birthday tomorrow and I just finished my ✨ annual birthday cry✨ Do you do this too? I don’t know if it’s a birthday thing or that the world is feeling really heavy or the v. nice 4pm total darkness.

When my husband (then boyfriend) and I were 21 we moved to Brampton for a year, we were super broke and uncertain and lonely with no friends or family around us. Our big splurge was going to see a movie most Friday nights and when I think back to that whole time period, that’s what I remember. The cozy packed theatre and popcorn-for-dinner and the nostalgia floods in. The simplicity maybe. So I look at my life now and wonder what I’ll feel nostalgic for later. Maybe funny things my kids say, maybe run of the mill family weeknight dinners with soft light and a hurried glass of wine. It’s all so temporary. The good morsels and the bad chunks of time that feel like they’ll never end. And so I guess I’m in mourning over the passage of time.

I feel a mini-birthday mourning near the end of every wedding where my eyes well up and I realize what I’m witnessing. The big and small, magnificent and mundane magic of humans creating meaning for ourselves and it’s so wonderful. Thank you universe for another year. xx michelle

Entering a room that is vibrating with love and affection for two people is indescribable. Michael and Julia are straight up besties in ways that are all encompassing. Tender, loving, telling jokes and sneaking kisses.

I’ve always viewed my job as helping people peel back the layers and reveal the quiet parts of their relationship because the images where they’re relaxed and I know those glances or laughs are the same they share on the couch every night are the most rewarding.
